Side entrances often feel very uninviting but it doesn’t have to be that way. The Goodman’s clients had lovingly remodeled this unusual mediterranean home with a modernist approach, informing the design of the front yard with a similar vision. Shifting the approach of the front path to line up with the beautiful arched front window, rather than far over at the edge of the property, begins a journey to the front door that “feels” right. Where before the front path was a straight, uninviting line to the entry, it now takes you on a journey through the garden, yet not too out of the way that one feels like hopping over the stone planters. An arbor seduces and escorts you along the side of the house, while softening the home's two story wall - and a low rock planter with hedge helps in mitigating the close proximity of the neighbors side entry.
